| The image shown above,
"Procession by the Lake", is by an unknown painter of China's Quing Dynasty.
This isn't much of a historical pointer, since the Quing Dynasty was remarkably
long-lived, running from 1644 to 1911, when Sun Yat Sen took over. More to the
point, the painting dates from the 19th Century, as the Dynasty was winding
down. It hung at Blair House from 1970 to 1985 and now resides in the National
Gallery of Art, where you can find it at
http://www.nga.gov/thumb-l/a00021/a0002100.jpg To see the rest of the images in the ThemePark either click on the name of the artist in the list below or, if you prefer, take a leisurely tour of the venues, clicking on the "next" arrows at the bottom of each page (including this one). You can get the title of the work by passing your mouse over the image. Each of the images is accompanied by a link to the place from whence it came. Most of the links go to graphics sites, which tend to carry heavy traffic. The result is that you may have problems connecting to them. Keep at it -- most of the sites are well worth the trouble. We change the theme every month, so be sure
to check back around September 20th, when Autumn delights will greet
you. Claude Monet |
