"A dillar a dollar a ten o'clock scholar,
What makes you come so soon?"
"Because the tv's on the blink
and I can't watch no cartoon,
and it's too late to hop a freight
and it ain't time for the saloon"

The kids have been back in school for a while, so we thought we'd take our third annual tour of Academe before the little dears escape again.

To see the images, either click on the name of the artist in the list below or, if you prefer, take a leisurely tour through these scholastic pages, clicking on the "next" arrows at the bottom of each page (including this one). If you are still using Internet Explorer, you can get the title of the work by passing your mouse over the image. If you've made the switch to Firefox, place the cursor over the image, right click, and then left click on "Properties". The title will show after "Alternate text".

Each of the images is accompanied by a link to the place from whence it came. Most of the links go to graphics sites, which tend to carry heavy traffic. The result is that you may have problems connecting to them. Keep at it -- most of the sites are well worth the trouble.

We change the show just about every month, so check back around December 20 when we will acknowledge the existence of Winter.

P.S. You can find the image of McGuffey's Reader on the web at http://www.allposters.com/IMAGES/ASH/1117.jpg
