| Contrary to popular belief, the
quintessential American family was depicted not by Norman Rockwell, but by
Charles Addams. Evidence for that statement you ask? Well -- did anyone ever
make a long-running TV series from anything drawn by Rockwell? I rest my
case. Addams was one of the most durable of the great cartoonists who graced the pages of the New Yorker. His cartoons ran regularly in that magazine for some 50 years -- from 1938 to 1988 when he joined the Great Addams Family in the sky. You can find out all about him on Wikipedia - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles_Addams This is our sixth Family outing in the ThemePark. Some of the images are holdovers from last five years. Others have just joined us for this family reunion. To see the images, either click on the name of the artist in the list below or, if you prefer, browse through the family album, clicking on the "next" arrows at the bottom of each page (including this one). Each of the images is accompanied by a link to the place from whence it came. Most of the links go to graphics sites, which tend to carry heavy traffic. The result is that you may have problems connecting to them. Keep at it -- most of the sites are well worth the trouble. To see the titles of the images shown here, pass your mouse over the image if you are using Internet Explorer. If you are using Firefox, right click on the image and then click on Properties. The title is shown after "Alternate Text". To see ThemeParks from months-gone-by, click on pArkive at the bottom of the page. We'll be having a hot time next month, so come on back around June 20 for our Summer ThemePark |
